Hello

Restore Voice Coaching is the culmination of years of training, performing across different genres and teaching within the music and entertainment industry. From being an eight year old chorister at St. Paul's Cathedral, my life has been full of music, and along the way having my own experiences of vocal dysfunction. This is what led me into the field of vocal health and the love of being able to help others on their own vocal journey. Contact Restore Voice Coaching for all of your vocal health needs, Vocal coaching, singing lessons and specialist vocal habilitation coaching for your voice.

My Story

Hello, my name is Tom and I am the founder and lead practioner of Restore Voice Coaching.

Where to begin... My own vocal journey has led me all over the world, to wonderful venues, fantastic shows, inspiring, wacky characters and everything in between. It hasn't always been glamorous, far from it in some cases, but it has been a wonderful journey full of memories, friends, ups and downs, and most of all fun.

I began singing as a chorister at St. Paul's cathedral, where I first learned, without knowing it at the time, about vocal tiredness and the effect of overload. A regular twenty five hours a week in the cathedral, increased over festive periods, special occasions or recordings, was a lot for a ten year old on top of a full school week. Knowing what I do now, I suspect that the anxiety associated with boarding at a young age also played a part in some of the vocal issues faced by the choristers.

Fast forward a few years and I began my undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, in the school of Vocal and Opera studies. This led me into a career in the opera world, performing around the UK and abroad with major companies like English National Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, performing in an Olivier award winning production of 'La Boheme' with Opera Up Close, and many more. My work on voice, character, presentation and dealing with performance related anxiety taught me a huge amount, which I have carried over into my coaching and teaching.

I have taught singing privately and in schools for over twenty years, always looking to learn more and keep developing my scope of practice and knowledge. Through this quest, I ultimately found my way to Vocal Health Education where I have spent a number of years  qualifying firstly in, 'Vocal Health First Aid', progressing to 'Vocal Habilitation Professional', in which I gained a distinction. I have also completed courses in the 'Healthy Spoken Voice' and am currently studying techniques such as the Accent Method. In April 2026 I will be qualifying as a Vocal Massage Therapist.

My Journey into all things vocal health has also led me to take up Qigong as a way of finding greater freedom, described as 'letting go of unnecessary tension and avoiding unnecessary effort', which I think explains healthy voice use perfectly. I am also exploring the benefits of counselling for singers.

Alongside my teaching and coaching practice I still perform and sing professionally, most recently in productions of Sondheim's 'Sweeney Todd' and Verdi's 'Macbeth'. I have also recorded with the award winning Voces8 on their album 'Winter' and sing as part of London Voices on film and game soundtrack recordings, including; 'Dune 2', 'Fantastic Four', 'The First Omen' and Playstation games 'Spiderman 2' and others, as well as live performance tours of 'Home Alone', 'Amadeus' and 'The Final Fantasy' game franchise.

In my coaching I draw on this wide range of experience to offer my clients skills that will aim to build confidence to be heard, whether for personal reasons, or as a singer, actor, speaker, business person, lecturer, teacher, doctor, for a wedding speech or any other situation that requires your voice to be listened to and truly heard.

Freedom of speech isn't just a fundamental right in what we say, but of the ability to be able to say it.

If this is you, please get in touch and we can begin your journey back to vocal freedom.

Get in touch to discuss any way that I can help get you vocally fit again.
